What you should expect post treatment?
Contractions/Side Effects: After the procedure, the skin may be red and flushed in appearance, similar to a moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on certain areas. This will diminish significantly within a few hours following the service. Within the next 24-72 hours, the skin will have returned to normal. Avoid sun exposure for 72 hours.
Microneedling Contraindications
Microneedling is a powerful skin treatment but is unsuitable for certain individuals due to safety concerns. It should not be used on those with active cancer, open wounds, sores, lesions, or any irritated or damaged skin.
Microneedling is also contraindicated for individuals who are pregnant or nursing, have any contagious or transmittable diseases, or suffer from bleeding disorders, including hemorrhagic or hemostatic dysfunction. Additionally, those taking blood-thinning medications, individuals with known allergies to stainless steel, silicone, or anesthetics, and anyone currently on isotretinoin (such as Accutane) should avoid this procedure.
Precautions and Warnings
While microneedling may be beneficial for many, certain conditions require extra caution to determine if the procedure is appropriate.
These include conditions such as actinic keratosis, active acne, collagen vascular diseases, cardiac abnormalities, diabetes, eczema, psoriasis, and other chronic conditions. Those undergoing immunosuppressive therapy, with a history of contact dermatitis, raised moles in the treatment area, rosacea, or active bacterial, fungal, or viral infections (like herpes or warts) should also proceed with caution.
Individuals prone to keloid scars, those on anticoagulants, or those with scars or stretch marks less than one year old, scleroderma, and any impaired wound healing should consult a professional to assess the safety and suitability of microneedling for their specific skin condition.
