PMU Pre +After Care Advise

At Beauty Vibes, our goal is to help you achieve stunning and long-lasting results from your permanent makeup (PMU) treatment. Following specific pre-care and aftercare guidelines is essential for the best outcome. Here’s a complete guide on what you should do before and after your appointment to ensure your PMU heals beautifully, along with the importance of follow-up appointments for color and balance adjustments.

Pre-Care Guide for Optimal Microblading Results

Following these pre-care guidelines will help ensure your skin is in the best possible condition for microblading. Proper preparation enhances pigment retention and leads to longer-lasting results.

Two Months (8 Weeks) Before Treatment

  • Avoid dermabrasion, chemical peels, and laser treatments.
  • Discontinue the use of any facial products containing Retin-A to prevent skin sensitivity.

One Month (4 Weeks) Before Treatment

  • Avoid Botox treatments around the microblading area for four weeks to ensure natural skin firmness during the procedure.

Two Weeks Before Treatment

  • With your doctor’s approval, stop using any blood-thinning medications, which may increase the risk of bleeding during the procedure.

Two to Three Days Before Treatment

  • Do not tweeze, wax, thread, or undergo any hair removal services on the brow area.
  • Avoid sun exposure or tanning to prevent skin sensitivity.
  • Refrain from using any skincare products containing Retinol or Vitamin A.

24 Hours Before Treatment

  • Do not consume alcohol, caffeine, or energy drinks, as these can increase skin sensitivity.
  • Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils, blood thinners, and supplements like Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and Niacin, which may contribute to bleeding.

On the Day of Treatment

  • Avoid working out, as body heat can expand the pores, impacting the pigment application.
  • Do not apply oily or heavy creams, lotions, or makeup to the brow area.
  • Follow the 24-hour guidelines carefully to ensure your skin is prepared for treatment.

Important Note
Since you’ll need to keep your brows dry for at least seven days after the procedure, consider washing your hair beforehand to maintain cleanliness without wetting the brows post-treatment.

By following these guidelines, you’ll maximize pigment retention and achieve the best possible results for your microblading procedure.

After Care For Your Brow Tattoo

The healing process after semi-permanent makeup procedure not always is pleasant, therefore a lot of patience is needed to finally see the healed result.

Eyebrows will change colour during the healing process and will be in the lightest tones during days 5-10 as the colour is absorbed in deeper layers of skin. Later skin cells push it back to the upper layers.  The true reflection of the healed colour can only be assessed 4 weeks after the treatment, this is when the skin tissues has healed and recovered.  Once healed the pigment will appear up to 50% lighter.

It is very important to follow the aftercare instructions, in order to allow your skin to regenerate quicker, avoid any complications and get the best colour retention.

After Care Balm Instructions – Skin Candy (after care balm) has to be applied in a thin, transparent layer, so that skin can breathe.  Apply it with dabbing motions and with a cotton bud.  If you have a lot of natural hairs on the brow, make sure to push the cream through hairs to reach the skin.

Day 1: Apply the cream every 1-2 hours + wipe the brow area first with the aftercare wipes provided in the after care pack.
Repeat this every 2 hours during first 24 hours.  Oily skin types can extend the time between wipes.
If your procedure is done late in the day apply Phi Patches protective barrier before bedtime

Day 2-4: Apply cream every 2-3 hours

Day 5-6: Apply cream every 3-4 hours

Day 7-9: Apply cream 1-2 times a day

The following must be avoided during the healing phase

  • Avoid Increased sweating for 7 days
  • Avoid Sport and exercise session for 7 days
  • No Swimming for 14 days
  • Avoid Hot Saunas, hot baths or Jacuzzis for 14 days
  • No Sun tanning or salon tanning for 14 days
  • Avoid makeup and skincare on or near the treated area for 14 days,
  • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings and/or any creams containing Retin-/A or Glycolic Acid on the face or neck 30days
  • Do not pick, peel or scratch the micro-pigmented area. This will prevent scarring of the area or removal of the pigment

The Importance of Follow-Up Appointments for Color and Balance

After your initial PMU session, a follow-up appointment is essential for achieving the ideal color and balance.
Approximately four to six weeks after your first treatment, Patricia will assess how the pigment has healed and make any necessary touch-ups.
This follow-up session ensures your PMU is perfectly balanced and that the color is as vibrant as intended.
Without this follow-up, the results may not reach their full potential, as healing can affect pigment depth and symmetry.
